Song List for May Concert

Here is the list of songs we’re going to do, or are still considering for our May concert.  Please check that you have ALL of these songs, and if not, plan to arrive earlier on Saturday to make sure you get a copy of them – library folks are usually there by 9:30.

FYI – songs are NOT in the order we’ll sing them for the concert, nor our rehearsals:
  1. Njengebhadi libhadula
  2. Ntakana
  3. Ah! si mon moine voulait danser
  4. En roulant ma boule roulant
  5. Northwest Passage
  6. E l’alegrie a e dai zovins
  7. Mandi
  8. Get Right Church
  9. Come Love Away
  10. Por La Paz
  11. Butterfly
  12. Tiny Perfect Moles
  13. Celtic Alleluia (by rote – no sheet music)
You’ll have noticed we’re beginning to “run” the songs more, i.e. less “learning” and more singing, hence we’re getting through more pieces each week too.  If you’re uncertain about a part we’re planning to have pretty much every track you’ll need emailed to you by the end of the week, so you can practise those tricky bits.
See you Saturday 🙂

Weekly Update from Kasi for March 4

Good morning everyone!

We’ve got a looong update today!

It’s a welcome to Spring! Join us on Saturday March 26th from 12:00- 1:30 p.m. downstairs at Harrp for a Spring Potluck. We encourage you to bring along your favourite finger foods to share with others. This will be a great opportunity to chat with other choir members, and also feast on delicious nibbles.
Speaking of spring, tis the time for planting! There will be a Vessey fundraiser held once again. We are sending along a second email with the Vessey catalogue. Please have a look and see what peeks your gardening interests! Orders will be taken on March 12, 19 and 26, and folks can pay when they order.
A gentle reminder to postpone all side conversations until the end of choir or during break. We’ve had a few comments about it being difficult to hear Hanna and Sue as there are many side conversations occurring.
A reminder to bring dry shoes or slippers in case it is wet this Saturday! We will be at Delta United Church (47 Ottawa Street S) instead of our usual location this week. Sue had sent out a request earlier this week to find volunteers to bring back equipment to HAARP. Thank you to those who have offered!
Several choir members have asked about how to access the Active Members Page. A big thanks to Bob who has gotten this process going! You can now sign into the site with our new password: sings2016
Bob has also posted two videos there of Brendan Taafe conducting ‘Come Love Away’:
****Brendan Taafe & Bright Wings. Bright Wings is an excellent small chorus. Pitch perfect pros. Really good video for hearing the individual parts.
****Brendan Taafe & Village Harmony Teen Traveling Camp. Gives a good idea of what the song may sound like with a choir like ours.
On October 15th and 16th, we will be attending a Brendan Taffe and John Harrison workshop in lieu of our regular rehearsal. There is a cost associated with this workshop – $120 (lunch included) or $100 (no lunch). Registration information will be sent out shortly.
Finally, here is a link for Northwest Passage. Please have a look as it will folks an idea of the overall sound of it:

See you all tomorrow!
